March 2022 – It’s been 12 months since School for Inspiring Talents moved from their previous premises at Seale Hayne to Place House in Ashburton – and this week, learners celebrated the anniversary of their move.
Head of School, Lucy Grenen says: “Place House offers us a combination of a tranquil and extensive outdoor spaces with purpose-built classrooms and facilities. Our pupils have really benefited from the ability to enjoy outdoor physical activitites that complement their indoor learning. This year we plan to build their skills further with hands-on carpentry and gardening projects to grow our own fruit and vegetables and also by expanding our Forest School.”
Mark Escott, CEO and Co-Founder said: “Place House’s beautiful setting on the edge of Dartmoor has provided scope to enable us to support our children’s wellbeing and learning with a wider variety of activities. The move has proved a fantastic success for the children and families we support at Place House and has given us the space to help even more young people who have had difficult experiences and struggle in mainstream education.”
School for Inspiring Talents offers two independent therapeutic day schools in Ashburton & Newton Abbot, both supporting a growing number of children from across south Devon with complex social and emotional needs. Their parent group, Life Chance, is expanding its offer to assist the wider community; this includes specialist training for other educators and bespoke services to help young people gain assessments for learning support.
